Navidad
During these days the children sing Christmas carols (popular songs with religious themes related to the birth of Jesus) and receive the "bonus" (gift, usually money that older children tend to do).
the night Christ was born on 24 December is "Christmas" in all English speaking countries and is celebrated as a family.
Quien consigue comerse todas las uvas a tiempo tendrá un happy year and good luck. After midnight people tend to leave and go to parties between fireworks and firecrackers, in Spain there is a big party in the Puerta del Sol de Madrid, where thousands of people hear the bells that announce the new year . Then, the English often go to parties and dances or stay on the streets. The Madrid end their night in a cafe, where they welcome the New Year drinking chocolate with "churros" (fried pieces of dough of flour and water in a cylindrical and elongated).
January 5 is the "Day of the Horse 'in towns and cities of Spain are organized parades in which the Reyes Magos (Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar) reparten caramelos y golosinas.
The most typical is looking forward to congratulate Christmas "Merry Christmas" or "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year."
Las Fallas
The "Fallas de San José" in Valencia, held in March, and the whole city becomes an enormous stage and art festival. The faults are peculiar satirical monuments, made with combustible materials (cardboard, wood etc.), Which are assembled in the streets and major intersections, are on public display for several days and burned on the night of March 19 , the feast of San José ('failure' means 'Fire'). The city wakes up on 19 with the alarm clock, a fireworks of firecrackers that does jump out of bed to Valencia and visitors, the noise increases at noon with the mascletá (more firecrackers, smoke and pyrotechnics), and culminates with the cream: a twelve o'clock at night set fire to the failures, which burn all at once. Throughout the year
Valencian artists work in the construction of the failures, these groups of sculptures are humorous and satirical representations of problems and characters of today. Each artist chooses faller considered most successful figure of the monument being built and a few weeks prior to placement failure in the street, all the dolls (ninots) will be presented in a joint statement. By popular vote is awarded one ninot which, by their grace and beauty or satirical intent, is considered worthy of a pardon from the fire. The ninots awarded each year are incorporated into a museum.
The Sanfermines
The English party par excellence and best known in the world is that of San Fermin, a festival held in Pamplona (the capital of Navarra) from 7 to July 14 in honor San Fermín. The festival begins on July 6 with the traditional "chupinazo", firing a rocket fireworks. Then start the spectacle of "closure" when you release the bulls through the narrow streets of the city: the bulls are running from the corral to the bullring and with them men. In the afternoon we held the run. This amazing spectacle of the game between life and death, of ancestral tradition and indescribable force, impressed Hemingway. The closure has come to be world famous and casual runners, thousands, more tourists, who throng in the street, seriously endangering their lives. Many times these are tourists who have spent the night out, sometimes drunk, they have no preparation. Consecutive days are witnessing the greatest explosion of festive todas las calles de Pamplona; los jóvenes, siempre vestidos de “pamplonica”, con camisa y pantalón blanco, faja y pañuelo rojos, corren, bailan y cantan por todas las calles, bebiendo vino de la tradicional bota de piel.
